Meet the Pastor

Hello! I’m Pastor Emily Munger, and I’m thrilled to be serving this UCC congregation. My husband AJ and I, along with our son Briggs and daughter Blaire, are excited to be building God’s beloved community right here in Pierre, SD.

Here’s a bit about my background:

  • Originally from Arlington, SD, and raised on a small farm.
  • Received my BA in Christian Education and Youth Ministry from Northwestern College, IA.
  • Volunteered for two years with Red Cloud Indian School, Pine Ridge, SD.
  • Received my Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, NJ.
  • Received my Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work, NJ.
  • Ordained into the Christian ministry within the United Church of Christ on Sept. 7, 2014, while serving Columbia Congregational UCC, SD.
  • Accepted a call to serve here in Pierre as of August 1, 2017.

Feel free to stop into the office or contact me at pastor.pierreucc@midconetwork.com.

A Quick Heads-Up! Don't respond to potential email scam asking for Amazon Cards.

Hi Friends! I hadn't intended on communicating during my vacation, but Cherlyn just called me from the office to alert me to a possible hack of my email contacts. She received a message from "Pastor Emily" requesting amazon gift cards (while I was in a "prayer session"). If you receive this, PLEASE IGNORE!

And know that I will never ask this sort of urgent request for money from you. It's a scam- and the worst type, preying on your generosity. Please let me know if you did receive this type of email, so I can trace how broad the hacker's reach has been.

On a brighter note, we're having a wonderful time as a family on this vacation! I look forward to being back among you on Monday.
Oh, and Cherlyn says the kitchen project is nearing completion soon.

How very exciting- see you soon!
